Perfect Studs and LBD for Party Season!

Posted on November 03, 2014 by Gina Pankowski | 0 Comments

The November issue of Glamour Magazine is featuring design duo Jens Grede and Erik Torstensson's new line of LBD's and we have some great jewelry to accessorize with! My Quark earrings worn by Hilary Rhoda are the place to start. Earrings are an essential element for making a statement. These studs combine black, white pearls and gold with a bit of unexpected movement, the gold wires are floating inside the black circle stud. Adding a playful gesture to a classic combination.

Carry the look onto your neckline with the Quark Necklace in that classic combination of black, white and gold with a modern twist. These pieces from my Orbit Collection are a great way to launch a conversation too. Did you know that Quarks are a fundamental element in all matter, protons and neutrons are made of Quarks. Wrist Stack - Timeless Layers

These three bracelets from the Metropolis Collection bring together layers of influence past to present. Gina Pankowski Blends shapes, patterns and ideas into her signature modern cutting edge designs.

The Pharos bangle with shimmering Kyanite gem is named after the ancient lighthouse of Alexandrea. Thought to be the first lighthouse Pharos is also one of the Seven Wonders of the World whose significance has traveled the world through language in Italian (faro), French (phare), and Portuguese (farol) meaning light or headlight. Kyanite is thought to be able to enhance focus and meditation.

From Greek mythology Tethys, goddess of sources of fresh water was the wife of Okeanos, the earth-encircling, fresh-water stream. It was imaged that Tethys fed her children Potamoi (Rivers), Okeanide (Springs, Streams and Fountains) and Nephelai (Clouds) by drawing water from Okeanos aquifers (ref. Aaron J. Astma – The Theoi Project) The expanding chevron pattern of this graceful open top cuff is symbolic of rippling water and parting waves.

Designed with movement in mind the links of the Metropolis Streamline Bracelet overlap seamlessly and slide smoothly against the skin. The graphic style of the three dimensional links are reminiscent of the streamline designs of the Art Deco period and futuristic images of a bullet train.

Opal - October Autumn Color

Posted on October 09, 2014 by Gina Pankowski | 1 Comment

Leaves are coloring, rustling, falling. The radiance of October is captured in Opals - alive, changing with the light and sparkling in all the colors of the rainbow.

The birth stone for October, opals like a rainbow produce brilliant colors with water. Opal is Amorphous meaning it has no crystal structure. Instead opal is made up of minute silica spheres that trap water in any voids. Light shining through the silica and water create extraordinary play of color in this gem.

The name Opal comes from the Sanskrit word upala meaning "precious gem". Indian lore considers opal part of the Goddess of Rainbows after she turned to stone to avoid the romantic advances of the other gods. In Greek mythology opals were thought to be the stone form of the tears of Zeus wept after the defeat of the Titans. Arabic stories speak of the stones falling from the sky in flashes of lightning, imbued forever with its fire.

This ring carries the energy of the changing season, shifting light and brilliant colors. Wear this ring to capture a quite time out during the day - to feed your soul with vibrant light - a fall meditation.

Bespoke Means Just for You

Working with a client to create a special piece of jewelry is most rewarding to me. With their story and dreams in mind we both experience the joy of making the bespoke jewel.

This pair of Emerald earrings began when my client fell in love with the rare green gem and eventually took a trip to India and the gemstone center of Jaipur. She shared stories of her trip and how much she loved the colorful markets and architecture. I compiled a set of drawings for her, she wanted the style to cross over easily from day to night. After she chose the design we made a wax model to confirm the size and proportions. The final earrings were cast and finished in 18k white gold with diamonds and sapphire accents. We both love them!
