What Drives Me

My signature designs are rooted in a vocabulary of shapes: the marquise, the catenoid, and sphere. Movement is essential to my jewelry designs. My interest in fluid motion was sparked while watching wind tunnel experiments demonstrating air and water flow over and around a model hydroplane boat. The patterns of smoke and water were revelatory to me. I’m still intrigued with how form and space interact. I am driven by the idea of kinematic design and use links and repeated patterns of shapes to make the motion in my designs more dynamic.

Because I fabricate my jewelry designs in my own studio, they aren’t just sketches: they are conceived in three dimensions: space and time. They are concrete experiments in structure and motion. When wearing my jewelry, one will experience the beauty of motion with the structure that lies within the natural world.
