Polishing and setting gems with the final additions to my collections today. I realized I have added five new pairs of earrings, three new bracelets, three pendants and six rings to the Metropolis collection I created earlier this year. I’m loving the direction this is taking me!
My strongest influences with the Metropolis Collection have been architecture, armor and design from three quite different time periods, Ancient Egypt, Samurai Armor from the 14th through 19th centuries and the Art Deco Period of 1920 – 1940. Their similarities to me are in the form of balanced and symmetrical design with strong linear decorative motifs. Repetition in design motifs is strong as well as the repetitive assembly of similar parts.
