With this collection I share my love for natural beauty especially when found in gems, minerals and pearls. Since I was a little girl I have collected pretty things I found exploring a beach, woods, or mountain path. I’m still collecting but today my magpie eye covets gems, minerals and pearls. Each gem in the Earth Ocean Air collection is one of a kind. This collection includes rare phenomenal gems that capture light in ethereal ways. Star Sapphires with a crystal structure of silken threads that reflect a bright six ray star when moved in the light. Opals are composed of minute silica spheres and water that can display an incredible rainbow of color. Sensual and feminine, fine pearls glow with their luster shifting translucent hues in the light.
This Necklace and Bracelet combination can be worn many ways, long, short, doubled, wear the bracelet or necklace alone. The gems include Green Opal, Precious Cats Eye Moonstone, Deep Blue Hawks Eye, Green Cats Eye Quartz and Crystalized Brazilian Agate in natural colors and layers that remind me of a refreshing icy pool. The natural colored pearls display shifting tones of grey, green, pink, lavender.
Expanding my Metropolis Jewelry Collection with two new link bracelets. Both influenced by Art Deco and Streamline Design. My love of pattern has drawn me to the repetition of linked forms again.
Pictured here is my Double Diamond Link Bracelet with the Metropolis Bolt Ring showing a fantastic flash of light in this outdoor shot. We built this bracelet with square wire on edge, two diamond shapes connected with a graceful curve. The effect is a cool faceted link with the clasp custom made to integrate into the chain. You can wear it close to your wrist with a tail, my favorite, or hooked in any comfortable spot. Also available in a light sterling silver.
The Metropolis Streamline Link evolved as a three dimensional chevron like design, tapered and overlapping, adds to its look of sleek motion. The links bottom edge lay flat on your wrist and move smoothly against your skin. For me this design is reminiscent of scales, armor or the fleeting motion of a Bullet Train. This bracelet is available in Sterling Silver with a light silver finish or a dark patina.
I'm back in the studio, feeling totally inspired and energized by the wonderful array of Designers and Retailers I met during JCK Las Vegas 2014. I have given myself space to accept the fact that it was way too ambitious of me to attempt a countdown daily blog post before the show! I’m a jeweler not a writer! Here are some snaps of the highlights.
My amazing husband David ready to welcome our customers!
Rave reviews for my new bracelet designs.
Architectural Ring Stacks were a hit.
The entry way to the Pierre Gagnaire restaurant Twist at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. An forgettable dining experience. The most memorable combinations of flavor like Biscuit Succes a Praline Cake, Dried Grapefruit Leaf, Black Sesame Ice Cream, just one dessert!
Viva Las Vegas!
Here is a snap from my jewelry bench showing new pieces for my Metropolis collection. I'm using more of the beautiful blues I found at the Tucson Gem Shows this year, Lapis, Kyanite and rock crystal. This Kyanite has a beautiful fibrous crystal structure that shimmers with every move. The large Lapis disc (almost 3 inches) is the center piece of a new statement necklace that can be worn multiple ways. When this one is finished I'll feel like I've earned some super powers!
My ideas begin with drawings from my sketch book. When a work is in progress I take notes and draw more details on these large file cards. These are a great reference to return to if a piece goes into production.
Thanks for reading!
Polishing and setting gems with the final additions to my collections today. I realized I have added five new pairs of earrings, three new bracelets, three pendants and six rings to the Metropolis collection I created earlier this year. I’m loving the direction this is taking me!
My strongest influences with the Metropolis Collection have been architecture, armor and design from three quite different time periods, Ancient Egypt, Samurai Armor from the 14th through 19th centuries and the Art Deco Period of 1920 – 1940. Their similarities to me are in the form of balanced and symmetrical design with strong linear decorative motifs. Repetition in design motifs is strong as well as the repetitive assembly of similar parts.
The Las Vegas Jewelry Week is one of the best if not the most important jewelry industry events of the year. I would count the Tucson Gem Shows a close second especially if you are a bit of a rock hound like me. In 2010 I exhibited at my first jewelry trade show in NY. Then I set my sights on JCK Las Vegas and here I go!
When the show opens next week I will be exhibiting in the Design Center! I am thrilled to be part of the energy that is the Design Center, a focal point for new and innovative designers. So this is my first count down to the show post. I want to give you a peek behind the scenes as I put the final touches on some beautiful new designs I will launch (I do love rockets) at the show.
Thank you for checking in and reading my blog! Here’s the press release.

Pictured are Amethyst Orbit Necklace in 18k and Lattis Earrings in 18k and Kyanite.
Gina Pankowski Jewelry is made to move: bracelets with three-dimensional links roll elegantly over your wrist and collapse and expand with every gesture. Statement necklaces look like they may have grown out of a scene from Halo.
Gina’s Earth Air Ocean Collection also features many rare one-of-a-kind gems in Necklace and Bracelet convertible pieces worn three ways. The Star Eye Orbit Ring features Idaho Star Garnet and Cat’s-Eye Sillimanite orbiting around each other when you move your hand.
Gina Pankowski jewelry is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian, has been shown and published internationally, and is available in fine jewelry stores and Neiman Marcus. Gina also is featured in the Moen statement piece campaign with TV commercials and print ads running through 2014 internationally.
